“House Republican leaders Tuesday unveiled a bill to keep government and key healthcare programs running through Nov. 21, but declined to heed calls to address expiring tax credits for federal marketplace insurance plans.,” as reported in Modern Healthcare (September 16, 2025).
The bill calls for a two-month extension of key government health programs that are due to expire on Sept. 30th. These include authorizations to provide telehealth and hospital-at-home services, which were initially allowed during the pandemic. In addition, the bill includes a provision to postpone $8 billion in annual cuts to hospitals’ disproportionate share funding that is used to serve patients who are living in poverty and lack insurance.
