Governor Murphy Issues a Proclamation for Mental Health Awareness Month

May 6, 2025

NJAMHAA is pleased that Governor Phil Murphy continues to demonstrate recognition of the high prevalence of mental health conditions and support for increasing access to treatment and support services, as evidenced by his issuing of a proclamation for Mental Health Awareness Month.

In addition to citing statistics of mental health conditions among youth and adults, the proclamation reinforces that "mental health is essential to a person's life in the same way as physical health" and "maintaining the mental health of a community supports the development of a healthy workforce and advances economic opportunity." It also declares, "A lack of mental health awareness leads to devastating impacts on the wellbeing of individuals and society." Click here to read the entire proclamation.
