SAMHSA Shares Resources on Mental Health Promotion and Suicide Prevention for LGBTQIA2S+ Youth

October 30, 2023

To help professionals, families, and communities support the mental well-being of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, Intersex, Asexual and Two-Spirit + (LGBTQIA2S+) youth, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)-funded Suicide Prevention Resource Center (SPRC) has released a full series of guides that offers action-oriented strategies for supporting youth and highlights sources of joy and positive elements of being LGBTQIA2S+.

In addition to a resource guide and four companion focus guides designed for specific populations, the series includes recommended resources and a glossary of terms. Developed by SPRC in partnership with the National Opinion Research Center (NORC) at the University of Chicago, all content was created with input from LGBTQIA2S+ individuals and those with suicide-centered lived experience. Watch the brief webinar for an overview of the series.
