New Jerseyans Cannot Wait Any Longer for Life Saving Care: NJAMHAA and Other Advocates to Host a Virtual Press Conference April 18, 2024

April 16, 2024

"For many years before COVID, New Jersey’s public system for behavioral health care and services for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) has contended with insufficient funding while costs and demand for services have escalated and the workforce has dwindled. The pandemic has exacerbated all of these challenges, making it increasingly difficult for the dedicated providers to serve children, youth and adults in need. To raise awareness of the tremendous impact of these services and secure the State Legislature’s support as members deliberate on the FY2025 State Budget, advocates will hold a virtual press conference, New Jerseyans Cannot Wait Any Longer for Life Saving Care, on Thursday, April 18, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Behavioral healthcare services include mental health care, substance use treatment, support for managing the impact of I/DD and services to address social determinants of health (housing, food, transportation, education, employment and access to physical and behavioral health care). All of these services are essential and have been proven to save lives and greatly enhance quality of life.

Please join NJAMHAA President and CEO Debra L. Wentz, PhD, and the leaders of The Arc of New Jersey, Alliance for the Betterment of Citizens with Disabilities, New Jersey Alliance for Children, Youth and Families and New Jersey Association of Community Providers for this important event.
